Taking a Closer Look at Geothermal Heat Pumps

Now that you are informed on how geothermal works in Knoxville with the first part of our series, it's time to examine the pump and how it produces the heat for your home or business. This piece will cover the inner workings of a geothermal heat pump, and hopefully shed some light on the energy savings that are waiting beneath your feet.

There are two main parts to a geothermal heat pump that work in unison to heat and cool your building: the condenser and the evaporator coil. The condenser will take out the existing heat that is stored in the ground, while the evaporator coil will work with the heat inside the home. Thus, the heat pump works by transporting heat from one part to another depending on whether you need heating or cooling.
